Most people don’t realize how difficult it is to plan a Dolomites hiking trip. Transportation, routes, timing, lodging, weather, navigation—one wrong decision can change the entire experience. Dolomythic Adventures offers fully guided, small-group hiking journeys, designed so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.
Towering limestone peaks. Quiet alpine trails. Mountain villages where time slows down. Every step reveals something that feels untouched, ancient, and earned.
This isn’t a sightseeing trip. It’s a journey you experience fully—on foot, at a human pace. It’s about shared mornings on the trail, dramatic ridgelines, and the deep satisfaction that comes from earning every view.
For those who want to move. We spend our days on the trail, exploring the landscape on foot.
We travel with max 14 people to ensure thoughtful pacing and a genuine connection with the environment.
Enjoy the freedom of the hills without the stress of navigation. Our local leaders know every turn.
Guests are expected to arrive on Sunday afternoon. Should they need any assistance, we would be delighted to provide detailed transportation options on the best way to reach our hotel. We’ll gather for a pre-dinner orientation to gear up for the week’s epic trails before sitting down to our first mountain meal.

Often referred to as the “Pearl of the Dolomites,” Lago di Braies is a breathtaking alpine lake known for its striking emerald-green waters and dramatic mountain backdrop. Situated at the foot of the imposing Croda del Becco, the lake offers a serene atmosphere where the surrounding larch forests and jagged limestone peaks reflect perfectly on its glass-like surface. Its iconic wooden boathouse and vintage rowing boats have made it one of the most photographed locations in Italy.

The Sassolungo Loop is a breathtaking high-altitude circuit in the Italian Dolomites that circumnavigates the massive Sassolungo and Sassopiatto massifs. Starting typically at Passo Sella, the trail leads hikers through an ever-changing landscape, transitioning from the surreal “City of Boulders” to the rolling green meadows of the Alpe di Siusi. This roughly 17-kilometer trek is physically demanding but technically accessible, offering constant panoramic views of the Marmolada glacier and the Sella Group. Along the way, several historic alpine huts—such as Rifugio Friedrich August and Rifugio Comici—provide perfect stops for local Ladin cuisine, making it as much a cultural experience as a geological one.
Local Transportation: included Hike Facts: approx. 7 miles, 5 to 6 hours. Elevation Gain: 3,694 ft.
This is widely considered one of the most visually dramatic treks in the Dolomites, defined by the jagged, “saw-tooth” peaks of the Odle Group. Beginning with a steep but short ascent to the Seceda summit cross at 2,519 meters, hikers are rewarded with an iconic panoramic view where sheer limestone cliffs drop vertically into the Val di Funes on one side, contrasted by rolling green alpine meadows on the other. This moderate hike often includes a stop at the rustic Malga Pieralongia, a tiny mountain hut famous for its fresh cheese and milk, before looping back toward the Seceda Cable Car or continuing down toward Col Raiser.
Local Transportation: included Hike Facts: approx. 6.2 miles, 5 hours. Elevation Gain: 1,936 ft.
Meals – Breakfast and Dinner
The hike from the Resciesa plateau to Rifugio Brogles is a tranquil yet spectacular traverse that offers some of the best front-row seats to the jagged Odle (Geisler) peaks. Starting with a funicular ride from Ortisei, the trail follows a mostly flat, panoramic path across expansive alpine pastures and through scattered pine forests, making it approachable for most hikers. As you move eastward toward the Flitzer Scharte (Passo Brogles), the landscape shifts from open meadows to a more dramatic mountain setting, culminating at the idyllic Rifugio Brogles. Perched at the foot of the vertical rock walls, the hut provides a perfect vantage point to admire the famous “Seceda needles” from below, offering a quiet alternative to the busier summits while showcasing the raw scale of the Val Funes mountains.
Local Transportation: included Hike Facts: approx. 6.3 miles, 4 hours. Elevation Gain: 1,247 ft.

The Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) Meadow Trail offers a serene and accessible trekking experience across Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine pasture, characterized by 56 square kilometers of rolling green hills and vibrant wildflowers. The hike provides a constant, 360-degree panoramic “front-row seat” to the most iconic massifs of the Dolomites, including the jagged Sassolungo and Sassopiatto to the east and the flat-topped Sciliar to the southwest.

Reaching the 3,152-meter summit of Piz Boè is often described as the most accessible way to experience a “three-thousander” in the Dolomites, thanks to the Sass Pordoi cable car that whisks hikers to nearly 3,000 meters. Starting from the cable car’s mountain station, the trail descends briefly to Forcella Pordoi before beginning a steady, rocky ascent through a stark, lunar landscape that stands in sharp contrast to the lush valleys below. While technically a moderate hike, the final push to the summit is steep and includes short sections secured with metal cables for safety, requiring sure-footedness and a head for heights. At the very top, hikers are greeted by the Rifugio Capanna Piz Fassa, a small hut perched on the peak that offers 360-degree panoramic views of the Marmolada glacier, the Sassolungo group, and the surrounding Ladin valleys. Due to its high altitude, and even in summer, visitors should be prepared for rapid weather changes and lingering patches of snow.

We believe places like the Dolomites deserve to be experienced thoughtfully. That means smaller groups, carefully chosen routes, and a pace that allows you to fully take it in.
We choose routes that offer the perfect balance of challenge and reward, comfort without excess.
Our local leaders know the trails, the history, and ensure you can fully take in the surroundings.
We believe smaller groups allow for a more thoughtful experience, without worrying about logistics or planning.
Hi I am Giovanni D’Ambrosio, I was born in Italy, where artistic and natural beauty are simply part of everyday life. From a young age, it was the mountains that captured my imagination.
During childhood visits to the Alps with my family, I developed a deep fascination with the landscapes, mountain traditions, and the strong, authentic communities that live among those peaks. The Dolomites, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. Their dramatic, almost mystical beauty felt different– powerful, timeless, and deeply alive. Those early experiences never faded.
Twenty-six years ago, I moved to the United States. Living abroad gave me a new perspective on my homeland. Distance has a way of sharpening appreciation. I began to see Italy, and especially the Dolomites, not as something familiar, but as something extraordinary. Over time, that childhood admiration evolved into a lasting bond. I came to understand the Dolomites not only as a breathtaking natural wonder, but as a place rich with culture, history, and human stories, where every village, trail, and mountain face carries meaning.
After years of traveling and exploring distant parts of the world, I felt called back to my own country. I wanted to share the timeless beauty, unique traditions, and remarkable people of the Dolomites in a way that felt personal and authentic. Dolomythic Adventures was born from that desire: to offer more than a hiking trip, and instead create meaningful journeys through one of the most extraordinary landscapes on earth.
The easiest way to reach Cortina is from Venice. Taking a direct coach from Venice is generally the most straightforward option, avoiding multiple transfers with heavy luggage. For Ortisei another valid option could be to fly into Verona, or Innsbruck (Austria) Detailed arrival instructions and recommended transfer options will be provided in your welcome packet.
Mountain weather is very unpredictable. Expect warm days (20-25°C) and cooler nights. Layers are essential as conditions can shift rapidly in alpine environments.
This trip is designed for intermediate hikers who are comfortable spending several hours a day on uneven terrain with elevation gain. It is rated Intermediate.
Solo travelers are welcome! Our small group dynamic makes it easy to meet new people. Single supplement options are available for accommodation.
All Dolomythic Adventures are fully guided, small-group experiences.
This is not a self-guided trip. You’ll be hiking with experienced alpine guides who handle
navigation, pacing, and daily logistics so you can focus entirely on the experience
You don’t need to be an advanced hiker, but you should be active and comfortable hiking
several hours per day.
Most days involve:
● 10–12 km (6–8 miles)
● Moderate elevation gain
● Uneven alpine terrain
If you enjoy hiking and being outdoors, you’ll likely find this both manageable and rewarding.
Both are incredible, but they offer slightly different experiences:
Cortina:
● More elevations and slightly longer hikes
● More dramatic alpine scenery
● Alpine Grandeur
Val Gardena
● Slightly easier terrain -hikes are closer to the town
● Iconic panoramic views (Seceda, Alpe di Siusi)
● Strong Germanic and Ladin culture
If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help you decide.
5-Day Experience
● Shorter, more flexible option
● Ideal if you’re limited on time
● Still delivers a strong Dolomites experience
7-Day Experience
● Full immersion
● More variety in landscapes and routes
● Deeper, more relaxed pacing
Both are fully guided and thoughtfully designed.
Each Dolomythic Adventure includes:
● Expert alpine hiking guides
● Small group experience (max 12 guests)
● Boutique hotel accommodations
● Breakfast and multi-course dinners
● Private transportation throughout the trip
● Carefully planned hiking routes and logistics
We handle the details so you can focus on the experience.
● Flights to and from Italy
● Travel insurance (strongly recommended)
● Lunches and personal expenses
● Hiking gear
We’ll provide guidance on everything you need to prepare.
Why not just plan this trip on my own?
You can — but most travelers underestimate how complex it is
.
Planning requires:
● Coordinating transportation between remote areas
● Navigating alpine trails safely
● Choosing the right routes based on conditions
● Managing timing, lodging, and logistics
Our guided experience removes that stress and gives you access to the best routes without guesswork.
We keep groups intentionally small — maximum 12 guests.
● This allows for:
● Better pacing
● More personal attention
● A more enjoyable overall experience
This is best described as a premium, boutique adventure experience.
We prioritize:
● comfort
● quality accommodations
● excellent food
● seamless logistics
But the focus is still on the hiking experience, not luxury resorts.
You can:
● Pay in full
● Reserve with a 25% deposit
● Choose a payment plan
Availability is limited, and departures fill on a first-come basis.
That’s completely normal.
We recommend scheduling a quick call with our tour guide. He can walk you through the experience, answer your questions, and help you decide if this is the right trip for you.
